The Mandav Gadh for was built in
1842 by the Nawab of Junagadh, and gifted to the Kathi warrior
chieftain, Bapu Hasur Wala, with the fiefdom of 6 villages, at
the request of the British administrators. The fort covers
5,000-sq-yards, and is entered by any of the 3 arch gates, large
enough for elephants, leading to 3 separate courtyards.
The interiors are decorated with brass utensils, beadwork
textiles, embroideries and the handicrafts of the region. The
fort is offered to investors and hoteliers on lease, with 20
acres of adjoining land if required (correspondence with sun
castle. Sunrise park, Drive in road, Ahmedabad).
